The Next Big Race

10 days out from the Gate River Run!  The picture is of this year’s medal.  I am addicted to race bling (more on that later).  The GRR is a nationally recognized, very popular 15k race.  I know a ton of folks locally who are running it and we are all very excited!  It’s the only time of year we get to run over the Hart Bridge (aptly name “The Green Monster”).  About a half mile of it is pure hell!  I’m shooting for 1:22 this year which would be about 3 minutes faster than my PR.  That’s an 8:48 pace which I think is pretty doable.  I used this pace calculator tool to figure out the pace. Over the next ten days leading up to the race, running 18 miles this week and 21 the following week (including the Gate).  Lots of rest, clean diet and doing a 7 day body cleanse that started this morning.  I have no idea what this is going to be like, but I’m sure you will all hear about it at some point! Let me know if you plan to run the GRR and if so, what is your projected finish...

Wow, I can’t believe this day is here…..I’m officially pursuing a dream I have had for most of my life! If I would have recognized it at 17 years old, I would be well down the path, but alas, we don’t always recognize what our intuition is telling us at such a young age.  At the time, I would not have said I wanted to be a personal trainer when I grew up anyway.  In the 1980’s, it would have been an aerobics instructor!  I was in awe of Jane Bowen, owner of Jane Bowen’s Body Shop, a small studio that I worked out in 3-4 nights per week.  I wanted to be Jane. Instead, I went to college, went the corporate route and gained years of experience being a busy professional; then eventually a mom and ultimately a single working mom.  I have somehow managed to consistently continue working out 5-6 days per week (including 15 -20 miles per week running and 2-3 days of strength training). I recognize the challenges working women face in finding the time, energy, motivation and consistency to get and stay fit.  And so was born my big idea and dream and what I will be pursuing from here on out.….I am committed to helping other busy, professional women overcome these barriers. It can be done and my life is proof. I know I don’t have to sell why being fit is critical to your health, image, career and life in general.  My goal is to show you how you can fit it in, provide the motivation and encouragement and accountability to meet your goals. I would love to hear from you and know what it is that holds you back or what you want to change in  your life. Leave a comment or call me!  ...
